Police Say Shots Fired into Box Truck

A suspect in a shooting in Newark is in custody.

Juwane Smith has been arrested for shooting at a truck at the Speedway on 345 East Main Street in Newark.

When Newark Police arrived to just after 7AM Wednesday, three victims told authorities that there was an altercation between one of the victims, Smith and Tara Midkiff.

As the victims were leaving the scene they said Smith pulled out a handgun and fired two rounds into the box truck they were driving in.

Smith is being held in the Licking County Justice Center. The case will be forwarded to the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible additional charges.
