ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Fire Department says two dogs and a cat had to be resuscitated after a house fire on Greenwood Avenue.

Firefighters were called to the corner of Greenwood and Beulah Avenues around 8:30 Monday morning.

Fire Chief Jeff Bell says the house was condemned and the family was preparing to move at the time of the fire. They were not inside the home at the time.

“The fire started in the front living room. That’s where — the family was moving out today and they had everything moved in there. They were actually going to U-Haul to get a truck to transport everything while they were gone. When they came back and the residence was on fire. So it’s under investigation right now. “

Bell says the American Red Cross Southeast Chapter was called to the scene to help the family.
