Meet April, our WHIZ / Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — She’s a long-haired cat and has been a resident of the Animal Shelter Society for about three months. April is our WHIZ / Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week.

“April is about three years old. As you can see, she is a beautiful, long haired cat. She’s got a great disposition. We recommend, though, that she be the only cat in the house because she’s kind of like the queen of the estate. She does get along well with older dogs. I’m not sure about puppies, but we have tested her with older dogs. She just doesn’t care much for cats because they’re competition for her. So, she would need to be the only cat in the family,” says Deb Bergeron, Exec. Dir. of the Animal Shelter Society.

A cat adoption special is in effect Feb. 14 & 15, as for $14 a cat can be adopted there.

Also, Bergeron take a moment to highlight some coming events.

“March 4, which is a Wednesday evening, we have our open house to show off our new look here at the shelter. It will be from five until seven PM and anyone from the public is welcome. We encourage you to come by and take a look at our animals. We’ll be open for business that night. Then on April 2, which is a Thursday evening, at the Zanesville Country Club, we have a large fundraiser event and that’s our annual Yappy Hour. We are currently looking for sponsors,” she says.

The Animal Shelter Society is located at 1430 Newark Rd., just west of Zanesville.
