ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Wednesday, a Zanesville college celebrated the Global Day of Play.
Cards, board games and twister mats could be found around the ou zanesville campus throughout the day with staff encouraging students to take a break. Faculty Facilitator for the Future Educators of OUZ Teri Peasley says the games day was held to offer students a break from their daily stressors.
“College is stressful. So this gives them that opportunity, if they choose, to play a game of cards or — we have things like Candy Land so harking back to their own childhood games. Gives them just a chance to step away from that daily stress of being a college student.”
Peasley says it’s important to take some time for yourself each day.
“I think it’s important for all of us to remember to breathe and to take a step back from the daily struggles of life. Whether it’s work, children, caring for family members, whatever it may be. To just take a chance to take a breath and walk away from our cell phones and our tablets and our ipads just for a little while.”
She says taking part in games can help stimulate your brain.
