ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s almost tax season and United Way is helping the community file for the 11th year.
Community Impact Leader Becky Clawson says it’s a simple and free process to go through with United Way.
“Here in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties, we have done that successfully for many, many years. Like I said, we’re about 11 years in. It’s totally free and there’s a small screening process they have to go through but our 2 in one information line takes that schedule and walks them through that screening process that’s very simple, takes less than two minutes to make that appointment. There are some income guidelines. So, married couples making $95,000 or less and single individuals making $65,000 or less, we can serve you. We do easy returns.”
Clawson says filing taxes is run by volunteers and the entire process usually takes an hour.
“We basically help you file your taxes — using software online. And so we can E-file or if you’d prefer to have it printed out and mailed in we can do that too. We do have a few people every year who prefer to do that and that’s fine with us. We’ll sit with you and explain everything that we’re doing and helping you with and then walk you through the process.”
