Rotary wraps gifts for Zanesville children

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Santa had a lot of helpers at Bryan Place Tuesday at the noon Zanesville Rotary meeting.

Members of the organization were wrapping gifts for needy children in our area.

President of the group Sheila Everett says the organization gets together to buy the gifts before wrapping them.

“We have stuffed animals, we have Legos, I’ve seen a unicorn in the bag. So we have — it’s always toys but it’s things that they have identified that they would like.

Everett says it’s an overwhelming experience to see the kids open their gifts from the jolly old man.

The chatter and the noise and the anticipation — until Santa gives them the gifts is just — overwhelming and then once they’re able to open their gifts we just hear sounds of delight and things like, ‘Oh, this is what I wanted from Santa.’ So it’s very rewarding.”

The Rotary is holding their annual Christmas party for those children on December 17 at Adornetto’s.
