Local News Stories

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Christmas is just 23 days away and the Zanesville Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce is working to get the community into the holiday spirit this week. Dana Matz, Director of the Chamber of Commerce, says Miracle on Main and the Festival of Trees will be taking place later this week as part of a three day Christmas Celebration downtown.

“It’s a big week for us. Kicking off on Wednesday, we’ll have the preview of the Festival of Trees. We’ll also have what we call the Miracle on Main Street—where folks will come downtown from 5 to 8 PM; and walk around the downtown area—visit the businesses. At 6:30, we’ll have the lighting at the courthouse. Thursday, we’ll come back here from 10 until 5 so people can take one more look at the trees then we go live on Friday.”

Trees and their accompanying incentives will be sold on Friday beginning at 9 AM on WHIZ AM 1240. All proceeds benefit local economic development in Muskingum County.

“We’ve had a great run of entries that came in late so we don’t have the schedule available yet. But, the schedule—we’re hoping—will be online at zmchamber.com this evening.”
