Candidate Forum Set for Oct. 22

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — One local group plans a candidate’s forum next week at John McIntire Library in downtown Zanesville.

“We’re looking at a problem right now as far as homelessness, adequate housing, we just completed a survey where it was shown that there isn’t really housing for people in any income level. So, whoever is going to be coming into these offices, we’re need to know what they’re going to do to solve some of these problems,” says Steve Stewart, of the Zanesville Think Tank.

They’re inviting Mayor Jeff Tilton, mayoral candidate Don Mason and other elected leaders and candidates to participate in the forum.

Voice of the Youth, a student group at Zanesville High School, will participate.

“We’re looking to draw the community into youth, the high school and even some middle schoolers and to communicate with their councilman and woman, to talk about some of the issues that they’re facing day to day within the education system,” says the group’s Kyle Johnson.

Organizers say each candidate will be given an opportunity to tell why they want to be elected to the position they’re hoping to secure.
