ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Zanesville’s street cleaning crew has a new piece of equipment in its arsenal.
Zanesville Street Dept. Supervisor, Michael West, says the truck will help save man hours.
“The City of Zanesville purchased a new leaf machine. The one sitting behind us is roughly $220,000. We had an old chassis that we put a box on. We approximately have $50,000 in the complete unit,” he said.
The truck and attached vacuum replaces an older leaf collection truck that’s no less than twenty-five years old.
“It’s going to be basically a two-man operation where the old machines too at least five to six,” West added.
He says leaf pickup season begins in about a month and goes on for six weeks. He asks people to not put sticks in the leaves, and requests residents around town to not park next to their leaf piles.
