Vets Receive Coshocton-Made American Flags from Summer Promotion

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Veterans from the greater Zanesville area put front & center over the summer as part of WHIZ Interactive’s Military Salute receive handmade American flags to honor their service.

“We thought that between the radio and the internet would be a great way to honor these veterans and rather than just having it on for a week or so, we wanted to make it summer long. People could find the right picture of someone who is close to them, could be a family member, could be just a friend. Someone who is close, who is serving or who has served. And so, a lot of the pictures, if you have gone through them, a lot of them are older pictures, some of them from World War II right on up to people who are currently serving today,” says Jay Benson, General Sales Manager of WHIZ Radio & Interactive.

Presenting sponsors include The Barn, Fells Quality Home Care, Snouffer Funeral Home, Rittberger North Market, Dunning Motor Sales & Ohio Educational Credit Union.

Beth Moore State Farm Insurance Agency & Beckert Chain Saw also sponsored the initiative.

“That’s what makes it so easy to honor those veterans. They don’t seek glory, they don’t seek any kind of notoriety,” Benson adds. “They just serve, they just serve, and it makes it easy to honor those guys.”

All flags are three feet by five feet, hand-sewn and made by Annin Flag Company of Coshocton.
