ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Bishop Rosecrans Girls Basketball team will be holding a live music fundraiser at LA-Z Acres Campground in October.
Sugar Creek will be performing country music at the event, and admission is ten dollars. Bishop Rosecrans Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach, Vince Tolson said this is a unique fundraiser, and they hope the community will come out to support the cause.
“Well, we are a non-state funded school and we raise all of our funds for our athletic program internally through the B.A.A. We are trying to turn the corner, if you will, for our basketball and give them some different opportunities, maybe traveling to North Carolina or Notre Dame or somewhere like that for a basketball camp next year,” said Tolson.
Tolson said one of the lead singers is a local, and it is great that she is coming back to support her community. Bishop Rosecrans Athletic Director, Gage Lotozo said these fundraisers are a great way for the community to meet the players and help the team.
“We have to buy our equipment. It helps, with you know, equipment, travel, food preparations, stuff like that. When we can do it out in the community, it is even better because people can come see our girls and our coaches. Look at the faces of who they are going to support, on whatever day we play a game,” Lotozo added.
Coach Tolson is excited for the season, and said Bishop Rosecrans girls basketball is only eight wins away from their 600th school victory.
