Foodworks Alliance 24th Annual Farm City Day Approaches

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Foodworks Alliance is excited to present the Farm City Day food competition at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds, September 21st.

The Foodworks Alliance is looking for folks to enter into the competition. The four categories are salsa, sauces, zucchini and food art. Foodworks Alliance Director Carol Humphreys said this is a great opportunity for locals to show off their abilities, and this year is all about the growers.

“Farm City Day has actually been going on for 24 years, but we have added a new dimension. We really want to celebrate the growers. We want the people that are in the stands selling the food. We want that food then taken home or maybe in your garden, you are producing some salsa or sauces that your family loves. We want them to come in and have fun with it, have a competition and let’s find out what great cooks we have in the area,” said Humphreys.

Humphreys said the farmers have had a very tough time this year with all of the rain, and events like these help them, but it also helps the Foodworks Alliance.

“Well, for one thing, we believe that the growers work so hard and sometimes out of convenience, we don’t shop them enough and this year was a hard year as you know with all of the rain and everything. We just believe that those growers need to have special attention. Along with that, here at Foodworks Alliance we do have some equipment that needs some maintenance and everything, so if there is some profit we could sure use the money in order to help keep the kitchen going,” Humphreys added.

The Foodworks Alliance does have 2,500 worth of prizes to win. If you are interested in signing up for Farm City Day or if you would like more information, you can call (740) -647-1497, or you can register online at Foodworksalliance.com
