ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Zanesville roadways will be affected this weekend due to the Zanesville City Half Marathon.
Some traffic delays are to be expected for the race on Saturday between the hours of 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Road closures will affect Market Street from Zane’s Landing Park to 7th Street, Muskingum Avenue, and Bell Street. Several road reductions will also take place at 7th Street, Main Street westbound from 7th to the Y-Bridge, Pine, State, and Taylor Streets, and also Blue Avenue. It is recommended to plan out the morning commute due to the road reductions and be cautious of runners.
“A lot of the roads will be shared lanes so if everybody could just proceed with caution that would be great. And then it starts at 7 a.m., ends at 11 a.m. so hopefully not too much traffic on Saturday morning,” said Hanna Luburgh, Race Director.
Zanesville Police Department will assist with the traffic. The half marathon will start at Zane’s Landing Park. 400 participants are already registered, Luburgh said they expect to see 600 by race day. This is the second year for the half marathon, 5-k, and one mile races, and it benefits the Muskingum County Community Foundation.
“All funds raised will go back into the community, so of course it’s awesome as a fundraiser. And then we’ve had so many sponsors, volunteers, so we’re really looking forward to a great event,” Luburgh added.
