BUCKEYE LAKE, Ohio – A local organization is hosting a cycling event for all ages this Saturday at Buckeye Lake.
This is the third annual Tour De Buckeye Lake, an event put on by the Bike Buckeye Lake organization. Cyclists will have a few different mile options they can bike around Buckeye Lake. Richard Buell of Bike Buckeye Lake said there is a variety of different routes, and they all lead back to the winery.
“We have three different routes. Every biker is different. Some people like to go on really long bike trips and we cater to them. There is a 48 mile trip that goes up to Dawes Arbor, which we just added this year. There is an 8 mile route which doesn’t go around the lake but the family type experience with various destinations along the way with some scenic views of the lake, and then the typical route that goes around the lake is about 26 miles and you will begin and end at the Buckeye Lake Winery,” said Buell.
After the Tour De Buckeye Lake, there will be an after party with live music at the Winery. William Collinson of Bike Buckeye Lake said the bike ride is a great way to show off the lake because there are all kinds of great views.
“One of the interesting things about the ride through, It gives the rider a very eclectic view of the lake. There are million dollar homes on the lake, there are fisherman shacks, there is little towns, there is cornfields, soy bean field and a number of different restaurants. By riding around the lake it, introduces the lake to people that might not necessarily have considered it a destination place to go,” added Collinson.
