ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Zanesville will be stepping back in time this weekend for their fifth annual Civil War reenactment.
The reenactment will be Friday and Saturday at both Riverside Park and Zane’s Landing Park. Cannons and muskets will be echoing throughout town as the Lorena sails down the Muskingum River.
Zanesville Chamber of Commerce Vice President, Kelly Ashby said, “Come to Riverside Park and also Zane’s Landing Park, there will be a surgical tent and some activities at Zane’s Landing Park where the Lorena is moored. Also, at Riverside Park is the actual site and that is free of charge, so you do not need a ticket to view the surgical tent and talk with some of the reenactors at both locations.”
Due to the fact there will be cannons firing as well as muskets, Ashby advises people to not bring their dogs. The cannons are very loud and could frighten your pets. Ashby said this is a great opportunity for the community to come out and enjoy history.
“This is just a different way to enjoy the Lorena Sternwheeler. Civil War reenactments are very popular in the U.S and people are getting to talk to the reenactors and just getting to talk about history,” Ashby added.
Ashby said all of the cruises are unfortunately sold out, but you are more than welcome to come and watch from land.
