Muskingum Family YMCA Campers Beat The Heat

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- With the heat index rising above 100 degrees today, you surely saw a lot of people hitting the pool.

Today, at the Muskingum Family YMCA, all the campers were swimming in the pool to have some fun, but mainly trying to cool off from all this heat.

One YMCA camper said, “It’s really hot and its fun to cool off in the pool because we get to swim a lot.” Another camper mentioned, “We like to swim when it is really hot and we look forward to it.”

Muskingum Family YMCA is making sure that the kids are staying cool not only by going swimming, but also ensures that they remain in air conditioned areas throughout the day.

Muskingum Family YMCA Camp Counselor, Emily Clark, “They swim from 1 to 2:45 everyday and other than that they’ve been staying in the cool AC. We try to keep them inside when it gets really hot like this.” Clark added, “The kids love to come out here and the pool is really good for them to stay cool especially when we have the heat wave going on today. The kids have been looking forward to it all day. They love coming out here and swimming with all of their friends.”

Saturday is looking like another pool day as we remain in a Excessive Heat Warning until Saturday night.
