ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Another beautiful sunny day brought a large crowd out for Saturday morning’s Zanesville Farmers’ Market.
The Zanesville Muskingum County Women, Infants and Children Program were at the market giving out coupon to W.I.C Program participants. W.I.C Program Dietitian, Clair Gately said there is a lot of healthy food at the market, and it is a great way to promote good nutritional values.
Gately said “We are giving out farmers’ market coupons to our W.I.C participants. Each person on W.I.C will receive a booklet of $20 worth of coupons to use here at the farmers’ market on Saturday’s and as well as the downtown market on Wednesday. So we’d love all of our participants to stop by to get their $20 worth of coupons to get all the fresh fruits and vegetables they would like to eat during the summer.”
The W.I.C Program is a nutritional educational program for woman, infants and children up to the age of five. Gately said once you pick up your coupons, you can use them from between now and the end of October.
“How you eat definitely affects your health and the more fruits and vegetables we all eat, probably the more healthier we all will be,” Gately said.
Gately said this was W.I.C’s first time at the farmers’ market, but she said this is a great opportunity so come on down to the market.
