ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Today was another sunny, hot, and humid day here in Zanesville, but here is how residents are beating the heat.

They’re treating themselves to homemade ice cream from the infamous Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl. July is national ice cream month and at Tom’s, you have over 30 different flavors of ice cream to choose from. General Manager and Ice Cream Maker, Joe Baker said the same people making the ice cream for so many years, keeps it consistent and of the highest quality.

“Personal touch. Between Bill and I, there is nobody else other than maybe a couple of kids, made a few gallons of vanilla. Nobody else has made ice cream in here in the last 40 years, besides myself or the owner Bill Sullivan,” said Baker.

Baker said they have some very popular flavors, and then they make popular seasonal flavors. Since Summer is here, he says fruit flavors become very popular choices. However, Baker said vanilla is the most popular because that is the flavor they use for their sundaes.

“As you know Summer, we got quite a few fruit flavors. We got peach, orange, pineapple, strawberry. I’ve got a strawberry short cake that is an ice cream flavor and lemon cookie,” Baker added.

Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl is definitely a place to go to beat the heat and have a delicious treat.
