ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The 55th edition of Zanesville Seniors’ Classic will be held at the Zanesville Country Club.
The 36 hole stroke play event will be contested on July 9th and 10th with a practice round on Monday July 8th . This year’s field will include 52 players from three states and 27 communities in Ohio. One player will travel from Florida and one from Pittsburgh.
The players (55 years old and up) will compete for overall champion and runner-up as well as gross score and net champions and runners-up in 4 age groups (55-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and older).
Defending champion is Norwich resident Rich Bubenchik. Past champions in this year’s field are Al Christopher, Norm Ogilvie, Jim Spargrove and Don Denman.
The Zanesville Seniors’ Classic began in 1965 after Zanesville resident Curt Shaw attended an event in Athens, Ohio the previous year and noted the large number of senior players in the field.
