ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It time to break out your patriotic costumes and join the 7th Annual Red, White and, Run 5k.

The Muskingum Recreation Center is encouraging the community to take part in this fun patriotic run. Event and Program Manager Becky Weir said this is a fun way to celebrate the 4th of July.

“A little bit different this year. Of course we’ll always have our tradition Star Spangled Banner, right before the race about 7:55 and then after the race while we’re waiting around for the results we’re going to have the Sno Cone Shack here and they’re going to do red, white and blue sno cones for everybody that participated in the race,” Weir said.

There will also be a 1 mile Family Fun Run that starts shortly after the start of the 5k. The funds raised will go towards helping the healthy outcomes program, pulmonary rehab program and the youth programs at the Muskingum Recreation Center.

“It’s just a great way to show your patriotism to your country for the day and get your day started off to a great start, a lot of family and just a nice way to show your support to the community too,” Weir said.

The run takes place at 8:00 a.m. starting and finishing in front of the Muskingum Recreation Center. If you would like to register, head to their website. If you register before June 19th, you will receive a t-shirt and be entered to win a $50 cash prize. There will also be a best-dressed prize awarded before the race.
