The Lancaster Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Perry County. Troopers say 67-year-old Michael Fehrman of Thornville was traveling north on County Road 30 when he failed to maintain assured clear distance and struck three pedestrians and their truck. The Patrol says 43-year-old Shane Barber of McCarthur, 19-year-old Michael Decoux of Jerusalem and 35-year-old Andrew Paucey of McCarthur were standing behind their work truck and were all struck by Fehrman. All three were taken to the hospital. Troopers say Barber was flown by Air Evac to Grant Medical Center in Columbus and later died from his injuries. All three pedestrians were wearing reflective safety vests prior to the crash. The accident, which happened Friday just after 7:00 am, remains under investigation.
