ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum County has a new rising star. A local eight-month-old baby will be headed down to Atlanta to represent Muskingum County and Ohio in a national pageant.

Meet Malam Roberts of Zanesville. He has already won a few pageants here, and now he is moving onto a competition in Atlanta, Georgia. The 8-month-old is sponsored by Fink’s Harley-Davidson. Malam’s dad, Timothy Roberts said if Malam thinks it’s fun to do pageants, they will keep on doing them.

“We’re going to continue with it and see how he develops and see what he does in life. It’s all about him and how he does. I’m sure there will be people that approach us maybe and tell us the right way to do with him and if they do, we will figure that out as we go along, but we’re not going to push him. It’s all on him and if he likes doing it, we’re going to continue to do it as a family,” said Timothy Roberts.

The journey all started at the Colony Square Mall where they entered the Sunburst Pageant. He then attended the State Finals in Mason, Ohio, where he won several awards and was nominated for the national pageant. Malam has gotten a lot of community support, and Malam’s mom Rosalind Tyo and Timothy Roberts think the support is awesome.

“It’s wonderful, the local hometown. Zanesville and Muskingum County as a community, we hold it really close to our hearts because we are such a close knit society here. It is really special living in Zanesville, Ohio,” Roberts said.

Tyo and Roberts are very proud of what Malam has accomplished and look forward to seeing where this takes him.
