NEW YORK (AP) — The sister of former NBA player Sebastian Telfair has been accused of threatening a witness who took the stand at his New York City gun-possession trial.
Octavia Telfair was charged on Monday in federal court in Brooklyn.
The ex-basketball player was convicted last month of carrying loaded guns in his car in 2017. Prosecutors say that shortly after a jury found him guilty, his sister made threatening phone calls to a woman who had testified against him.
Sebastian Telfair was drafted in the first round in 2004 by the Portland Trail Blazers. He also played for several other NBA teams over his career.
Octavia Telfair’s attorney did not immediately respond on Monday to an emailed request for comment.
