ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority met on Wednesday, May 15th and approved the budget.
They have seen an increase in revenue from different property and rail leases. Executive Director Matt Abbott said they are really seeing an influx in their demand for rails.
“We’re just fortunate enough, here in Muskingum County, we’re able to serve the companies that exist here. Provide that service for them,” Abbott said.
The budget increase will allow Port Authority to have additional revenue. Abbott said this will provide them the means to continue to support the community in different ways.
“A lot of times we’re doing due diligence on sites. We’re working with companies, we’re providing dollars to train employees. So a lot of this money will be invested right back into our communities,” Abbott said. “A lot of time it’s our existing companies but we also have perspective companies that are from the outside looking in and it’s always nice to have a little bit of a nest egg to throw them support.”
