*UPDATE*Gas Problems in South End of Zanesville

Local News Stories

Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton says the city has a major gas problem in the south end of the city. Tilton says Columbia Gas has informed the city that gas lines to that area (Pine Street and other close by areas) are dealing with a failure in service not over pressurized gas lines as was first reported. Mayor Tilton says around 600 customers are affected by the issue. He says Columbia Gas is bringing in over 100 technicians to deal with the problem. Tilton says Columbia Gas officials will go to the affected customers and visit each home and business to shut off service. Tilton says the natural gas customers affected will also lose their electric power while the problem is fixed. Columbia gas officials tell Whiz News that “this is being done out of an abundance of caution.” Customers that have special needs or medical concerns should contact Columbia Gas at 1-800-344-4077. There is no word on how long it will take to make repairs. As always if you smell natural gas please get to a safe place and call 911 and Columbia Gas at 1-800-344-4077.
