A Tribute to Vice Admiral Albert M. Calland III

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A tribute to a local hero will be taking place at Winland Memorial Gymnasium.

Retired United States Vice Admiral Albert Calland III graduated from Zanesville High School in 1970. Blair Magaziner, a friend of Bert and Zanesville Attorney, said he was a Naval Academy graduate and his career goes far beyond that.

“A great athlete here in Zanesville and a great athlete over at the Naval Academy but Bert’s military career and his career with government has just been phenomenal,” Magaziner said.

The event is to not only honor Bert but to raise money to honor and memorialize all of Zanesville City Schools Alumni who have served. If interested in attending, you can sponsor a VIP gold table for $2,500, a VIP red table for $800, a white table for $400 or you can buy individual tickets for $50.

“Bert has remained loyal to Zanesville. His brother Dick Callan and his Sister-in-Law Nancy Callan have continued to be residents here the entire time. He’s come back to help raise funds for various programs here in Zanesville and remains very loyal to the community itself,” Magaziner said.

The event is on Friday, May 24th starting at 5:00 p.m. You can find individual tickets at Varsity Title, Winerak Market, the Welcome Center, the VFW, and the Zanesville City Schools Administration Center or if you would like to sponsor a table contact Ron Bucci at (740) 704-4334.
