ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Local government officials are participating in providing food for seniors in our area.
This is all part of the national March For Meals campaign, a program started from the Older Americans Act. This act supports a range of home and community based services for older adults. Muskingum County Center For Seniors invited the local government officials and community partners to serve meals to seniors at the facility and home-bound.
“They will be joining us either here on our congregate tray line to serve the seniors here at the Center. Or they’ll be riding with our drivers, going out to those 600 individuals in Muskingum County that receive our home delivered meals everyday,” said Executive Director of Muskingum County Center For Seniors, Ann Combs.
March For Meals highlights how vital food nutrition in the home is to the well being of seniors. Muskingum County Center For Seniors wanted to invite the officials in the local area to emphasize the importance in the funding of senior services.
“Because our funding is donated generally by the public, but also we utilize Federal, State, and Local tax dollars. We want to make sure that we’re continuing to shine that light to say this is something that is continually needed,” said Combs.
The Muskingum County Center For Seniors not only provides nutritional meals for seniors; but activities, supportive services, and transportation as well.
