Newark woman arrested in grand theft investigation

NEWARK, Ohio – Newark Division of Police Detectives have made an arrest in connection with the 2016 grand theft investigation at St. Francis de Sales Parish.

On Thursday, March 14th, former St. Francis de Sales Parish accountant, Amber McCracken of Newark, was arrested after acknowledging she stole over $100,000 in parish funds. Upon further investigation, the Newark Division of Police requested and received assistance from The Special Investigations Unit of The Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Office of the Attorney General. Additional stolen monies were then identified, and in all, totaled more than $150,000 in stolen parish funds.

Thirty-nine year old, McCracken, is being held at The Licking County Justice Center. This case will be forwarded to The Licking County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal charges.
