ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Hunger Networks Operation Feed is a go.
From March to May there will be a variety of events held that will be directed toward helping local food pantries. Executive Director of Christ’s Table Keely Warden said this is the one time that the 15 food pantries and four hot meal programs ask for the communities support.
“Almost 900,000 meals went back into the community last year between the pantries and the hot meal programs and we come to the community once a year and say here’s your opportunity to help,” Warden said.
The first event will take place at Hot Head Burritos on Maple Avenue on Wednesday, March 13th. If you present a flyer or mention Operation Feed while buying a meal in-store, they will donate 50% of your purchase to the cause and help prepare the pantries for Spring and Summer.
“Winter is wrapping up, we can finally see Spring around the corner. It’s been a long Winter and families have really been taxed so the pantries are really needing to restock their shelves,” Warden said. “Another thing that we’re gearing up for is Summer. Summer is actually our busiest time of the year because the kids are not in school, they’re not getting their free meals there at school so parents are having to provide those meals.”
The Hunger Network is still looking for volunteers to help with these events so if you are interested in volunteering or finding more information about Operation Feed, give Warden a call at (740) 452-9766.
