ZANESVILLE, Ohio – There is a new opportunity for all of you Game of Thrones fans out there.

The American Red Cross has partnered up with HBO Game of Thrones. Executive Director of the American Red Cross Southeast Ohio Chapter Matt Riddle said it is a great way for them to promote donating blood.

“The TV show on HBO gets 32 million viewers on average. So it’s great for us cause we are in need of blood. It started in November, December with the holidays and the cold weather so that’s still in effect. We still need more blood,” Riddle said.

If you go to any blood drive before March 17th you will receive a free t-shirt and sticker when you donate blood. You will also be entered in for a chance to win a round trip to the season 8 World Premiere, they are choosing 5 winners for the trip.

“Collaboration with HBO, with such a big show as Game of Thrones is really important because it gets the awareness out there and anything we might need to do to incentivize people to come out and donate blood is a good thing. Especially, if you’re a huge fan of this show and you want to get a t-shirt but you’re also helping save lives at the same time,” Riddle said.

Both the Red Cross and Game of Thrones are trying to spread awareness of blood donations by getting fans and donors to show their devotion and bleed #ForTheThrone. To find out more information, head to the American Red Cross website.
