ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Today is the opening night of the new Impressionist exhibition at the Zanesville Museum of Art.
The exhibition is called Catching the Light- American Impressionist Paintings from the Cincinnati Art Galleries. This exhibit will showcase the art style of Impressionism. The paintings reveal the unique nature of the American movement and the influence it had on the development of twentieth century modernism.
“In this exhibition we have all of the really exciting characteristics that people have come to love about Impressionism. Like the beautiful, bold colors, and really sketchy brush strokes that people identify with some really famous artists like Renoir,” said Executive Director of Zanesville Museum of Art, Laine Snyder.
This is the first time the museum has ever held an exhibition of American Impressionism. Snyder said by building a partnership with Cincinnati Art Galleries, the opportunity to create this exhibition in Zanesville was made possible.
“So getting to know the Gallery Director better, we were able to kind of forge this wonderful partnership and bring these works to Zanesville for the first time,” she said.
Catching the Light-American Impressionist Paintings from the Cincinnati Art Galleries exhibition will be open until March 30th.
