ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Eastside Community Ministries kicked off its fourth annual Chair-ity auction event at the Colony Square Mall.
Eastside accepted one hundred forty entries of chairs, which is the most they have ever had for this event. Different businesses and organizations stepped up and got creative with the entries, for example the pet themed chairs and garden themes. Attached to each decorated chair is an incentive.
“We also have a chair donated by a local tattoo artist that he created and he put a five hundred dollar incentive with it, so that’s been pretty popular. So like I said, we have lots of children’s chairs, office chairs, living room suits, things for everybody,” said Executive Director of Eastside Community Ministries, Jamie Trout.
The Chair-ity auction was inspired by the late Audrey Foster, and is held in her honor. Trout said the auction has grown every year, and it is an exciting thing to see.
“This year we’ve been hearing from people everywhere so we’re excited the word is getting out there. People are already talking about being in it next year that didn’t have a chance to get in it this year, so it keeps growing. Getting attention, which helps Eastside get out there and let people know what we’re doing in the community,” she said.
The auction will include sealed bids on Friday and Saturday, and a live auction of selected items will take place on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
