Pet of the Week: Oreo

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Animal Shelter Society is introducing a new black and white friend.

Oreo is a five month old kitten, and gets his name because of his black and white fur. He has been with the animal shelter since December. Oreo gets along great with other animals and loves to be around people. The shelter is still doing their adoption special for the month of January. Oreo’s adoption fee will be $24, if you bring in 24 cans of human food that will be donated to Christ’s Table.

“A young cat, he’s ready to come in and learn your family’s routine and things like that. So we’d love for someone to come in and take a look at him,” said Executive Director of Animal Shelter Society, Jody Murray.

Coming up on March 7th, the Animal Shelter Society is hosting their “Yappy Hour” event at the Zanesville Country Club. It’s another way to support the shelter and enjoy an evening of drinks, socializing, and even an auction.

“We have tickets available, stop here at the shelter. It’s a great event out at the Country Club. We’re going to have several chefs there, that you can come and get some appetizers. Then we have a very small auction of some pretty unique items,” said Murray.

The tickets for “Yappy Hour” are $35 and can be purchased at the Animal Shelter Society. And for more information on how you can adopt Oreo, contact the shelter at 740-452-1077.
