NEWARK, Ohio – Just after 5 P.M. on January 8th, Newark Division of Police responded to 1315 North 21st Street on a reported shooting.
Within minutes, officers were on scene securing the interior and exterior of Walmart and searching for victims and a shooter. Walmart employees and citizens at the scene were able to help officers identify people of interest. They were also able to provide the suspect had fled the area in a vehicle and provided the name of the suspect.
Officers identified a suspect, Kyle A. Daugherty, 37 year-old of Newark. Just after 6 P.M., about an hour after the initial call, officers took Daugherty into custody at the Old Bag of Nails Restaurant at 1671 North 21st Street without incident. Two other arrests were made on unrelated warrants; Christina Ankrom, 40 year-old of Newark and Lauren Dennis, 28 year-old also of Newark.
It is believed the incident was a result of relationship issues and the ownership and possession of dogs. Newark Division of Police Detectives will be presenting the case to the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office on charges of Felonious Assault and Weapons under Disability. All three are being held at the Licking County Justice Center.
