ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum Valley Park Society is looking for new members.

During your time as a member or volunteer, there will be opportunities to learn more about growing plants, avoiding pests and much more. Russell Edgington, Executive Director of the Muskingum Valley Park District said, it is a great opportunity to be involved and work with others who are interested in some of the services provided.

“The Muskingum Valley Park District has facilities all throughout Zanesville and Muskingum County and the importance is, you can call us a startup organization, we only have two staff members. So the members and volunteers are very important for us to get our message across to the public and to really fulfill our mission,” Edgington said.

The Mission Oaks Greenhouse is currently being used as a production facility, it is filled with tropicals that will be out in the summertime. In two months, volunteers and members will start propagating the plants for the John McIntire Outdoor Classroom.

Muskingum Valley Park Society Member Vicky French said, “It is an exciting opportunity for families and for children and I’m really excited about being a part of this initiative. The John McIntire outdoor classroom is going to be dedicated on September the 15th and it’ll be a fun day and I think the children will enjoy it and so will the parents.”
