ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Community Foundation is getting ready for their 23rd Annual Groundhog Day Celebration.
The event is Friday, February 1st from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Ohio University Zanesville/ Zane State College Campus. There will be drinks and food provided by Marco Adornetto and the Zane State Culinary Arts Program.
The Foundation CEO, Brian Wagner said, “I know a lot of people look forward to it because you’re talking the winter months and maybe not an opportunity to get out and socialize and this is the perfect time we feel for people to get together and have a great evening out and honor some local individuals and raise some money for a spring grant competition.”
The Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award and Brian Wagner Community Leadership Award will be handed out to honor two local representatives. All proceeds from the Groundhog Day Celebration will benefit local charitable projects.
“So the dollars that we raise are turned right back around and they got back out into the community,” Wagner said. “So you get a great opportunity to socialize with some friends, pick up some very cool auction items and then know that the money later this year will be going right back out into the community to support other nonprofits and other programs and projects that are happening in Muskingum County.”
Wagner said the turnout in past years has been great, depending on the weather they typically see between 300 to 400 people. Tickets are required and available on the MCCF website and they will be selling them on the day of the event at the door but that does not guarantee a seat.
