MVL radio game of the week: Maysville vs. New Lexington

NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio – It’s a Panther vs. Panther matchup in this week’s MVL radio game of the week.

The New Lexington Panthers will be riding some momentum into Friday’s home matchup against Maysville. New Lex got their first win of the season on Tuesday, beating Crooksville 65-45.

It’s a young New Lex team that is still trying to find themselves. Head coach Jeremy Duerr knows his team has to bring it every night.

“Right now our margin for error is very small and the way we are going to scrap and pull out wins is if we get after it. We need to shoot the ball better. We’ve been spending a lot of time in practice getting the ball up. We need to get shots at game speed that way they translate to game makes,” said Duerr.

Maysville is 3-5 on the season. They’re coming off a Tuesday loss to Tri-Valley that end a two-game winning streak.

One of the bright spots for Maysville has been Kaiden Hartman. The junior is leading the team with 15 points per game. He’s one of the strongest three-point shooters in the league, converting on 44% of his long range shots.

“He’s really shot the ball well. Me being a shooter in the past I know that any time you shoot over 40% on threes that’s really good. He’s put a lot of time in to do that. Hopefully we can get it inside to Kyle Lake and Ethan McClelland too and play some inside-out,” said Maysville head coach Dave Brown.

Friday’s game tips around 7:30 p.m. David Kinder and Bill Crane have the play-by-play on Z92 Radio.
