NEWARK, Ohio–Authorities announced Monday that a Newark man is facing charges in connection with a death that occurred in August.
The Licking County Sheriff’s office said that 50-year-old Harry Johns has been charged with reckless homicide, aggravated vehicular homicide and tampering with evidence.
The charges stem from an incident in August involving the death of Gary Conrad.
Authorities said that it was first reported on August 12th that Conrad and Johns were attempting to pull a dump truck off of property in the area of Martinsburg Road and Camp Ohio Road in Eden Township using Johns tow truck.
During this time it was reported that Conrad had collapsed possibly from a medical condition.
However, an autopsy later showed that Conrad had succumbed to injuries that were consistent with being crushed.
Johns was arrested Friday, December 7th and charged with Conrad’s death.
According to court records, Johns appeared in court Monday where he entered a plea of not guilty.
Bond was set at $100,000.
