The Salvation Army bells continue to ring

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Red Kettles continue to decorate the fronts of many stores in the area.

With Christmas only a few weeks away, volunteers for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign are ringing bells for donations. Volunteer Mary Lou McKean said helping with the Red Kettles has become somewhat of a tradition for her. She said she has been a part of it for about 8 years and that knowing all the money will help local families in need is what keeps her coming back each year.

“Like I said, a lot of people are in need and this helps them have a nice Christmas, and for the kids,” said McKean.

This year local artist Mary Ann Bucci has donated 500 prints to be given out to those who donate 5 dollars to the kettles. She said she wanted to donate the prints because the work the Salvation Army does is so important and hopes it will be an incentive for people to donate. She also hopes they can get rid of all the prints.

“When we were working the kettle last Saturday at Walmart we gave out every one that we had,” said Bucci.

The Salvation Army Red Kettles will be out in the community at different stores until Christmas Eve.
