Staying healthy during the holidays

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The holidays might be the most wonderful time of the year, except when it comes to your waistline.

With all the cookies, candy, and rich food available this time of year, it’s easy to pack on a few extra pounds. Jim Fraunfelter from The Fieldhouse said one of the best ways to keep the weight off is not overindulging in all the sweets and food.

“The biggest thing is, and it’s tough this time of year, is eating in moderation,” said Fraunfelter. “You know because there’s so much food, candy, great stuff this time of year, but it’s the idea of being able to push yourself away from the table.”

Former CEO Mick Amicone said in order to avoid becoming part of the 62% of Americans who gain an additional 5% of body fat during the holidays, it’s important to keep exercising. He said to try and squeeze in a workout between all of the parties, shopping, and baking.

“The best bargain is 24-hour fitness,” said Amicone. “Find a place that’s got 24-hour fitness,  get everything done, and then to get un-stressed go get your workout in after that.”

Amicone said if anyone is interested in learning more about the 24-hour fitness center at the Fieldhouse, they can stop on in.
