ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A holiday classic ballet took the stage for a final time at the Secrest Auditorium.
Muskingum Youth Performing Arts presented their last performance of The Nutcracker. The cast put a lot of hard work into rehearsing for the show, and perfecting their dances.
“The kids have been preparing since August, they rehearsed every weekend. They put in a lot of hours to get ready for the show, and we’re really excited for our last performance,” said Director, Whitney Lewis.
Muskingum Youth Performing Arts makes the show bigger and better every year by vamping up their costumes and adding new set pieces. They even increased to four shows this year to give students more opportunities to perform and do extra parts. Lewis said they have had a nice, full house every time.
“If you’ve seen The Nutcracker before we encourage you to come, if you’ve never seen it, it’s also a great show. Whether you’ve seen it year after year, or brand new it’s always a great production, and we love for everybody to come and see it,” she said.
The students who performed in The Nutcracker enhanced their performance experience and honed their dance techniques, and were a part of a dance community of friends and instructors.
