ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Holiday shopping may have already started with Black Friday, but it continues Saturday with Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is sponsored by American Express and their goal is encourage people to shop “small,” and support local businesses and restaurants. This drives awareness to consumers to keep small businesses in mind. Owner of local business White Pillars Christmas House, Keith Taylor, said it’s important to shop local because these businesses give back to the community.
“We do donations for different fundraisers and so forth, and because we are able to give back, it’s because of the local people who come and support us. And small business Saturday is that one day that’s set aside each and every holiday season so that businesses can enjoy the community and those coming out to support them,” he said.
Taylor also said that he has seen many people take part in Small Business Saturday and showing their support.
“We’ve seen all the local people come out and support us especially on this holiday weekend. You know, Black Friday being today, and with Small Business Saturday being tomorrow, the local people are wonderful coming out to support us,” he added.
White Pillars Christmas House will be offering special deals for consumers on Saturday.
