Zanesville Man Cited For 8th OVI Offense

A Zanesville man was scheduled to appear in court last Wednesday for his eighth OVI conviction.

Lt. Matt Boyd said 54-year-old James Campbell was arrested after it was determined he was operating a motor vehicle while being impaired by alcohol and or drugs.


House Fire Ruled “Suspicious”

The Zanesville Fire Department is investigating an early Monday morning house fire that occurred at 1848 Ridge Avenue.

Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Bell said the home was fully engulfed when they arrived and water supply was hampered when a car slammed into a nearby fire hydrant.


Tuesday Rains Create Widespread Flooding

Tuesday Rains caused widespread flooding across southeast Ohio Tuesday closing multiple roads and causing people to evacuate in Crooksville. The Spring storms knocked out power to 500 customers.

Perry County was hit particularly hard as the flooding, road closures and power outages added to a natural gas outage and an EF-0 level tornado that skimmed over, near Thornville.


Hartmeyer Pleads Not Guilty

A former Muskingum County Sheriff’s Deputy charged with eight felony counts of child pornography appeared in court Wednesday for an arraignment hearing.

61-year-old Timothy Hartmeyer, who is president of the Zanesville Police Athletic League pleaded not guilty.

The Zanesville Police Athletic League is a program that promotes youth athletics.


‘Ohio Means Jobs’ Job Fair

The Colony Square Mall will be hosting the Muskingum County Ohio Means Jobs Job Fair Thursday, April 12, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Ohio Means Jobs Supervisor Julie Metzger is encouraging companies who are hiring to contact Ohio Means Jobs at 740-454-6211 before Tuesday, April 10, at noon.

Metzger is hoping to draw 35-40 employers and says employers representing any and all types of industry are welcome to participate.


ZTNT Model Train Club Open House

The Zane’s Trace National Trail Model Train Club will be hosting an Open House 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, and Sunday, April 15, on the second floor at 24 S. 6th Street in Zanesville.

Hope and Healing: A Community Awareness Meeting

LifeWay Church will be hosting a Community Awareness Hope and Healing event 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at 2450 Maysville Pike in Zanesville, immediately followed by a meet and greet with refreshments.

The mission is to provide connection points for students, faculty, and families affected by suicide, bullying, overdoses, and etc. with mental health providers, first responders, city and county officials, area schools, and people of faith, in order to help provide necessary knowledge & resources to those in need.
