DRESDEN, Ohio — Tri-Valley is moving on in the girl’s state tournament after knocking off St. Francis DeSales 53-37 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Dawgs kicked off tournament play after finishing second in the MVL, and coming off a loss at Maysville one week ago in which Alivia Bash suffered a knee injury that will keep her out for the tournament run.
Lauren King got Tri-Valley off to a hot start with two first-quarter three-pointers, and a third in the second-quarter, pacing the Lady Dawgs with 11 first-half points.
While the result never felt in doubt, DeSales wouldn’t go away. The Stallions trailed 25-14 at the half, but cut the lead to just eight heading into the fourth quarter. DeSales would get the lead down to as few as six in the fourth quarter, before Tri-Valley pulled away.
Audrey Spiker added 10 points for the Scotties, while Laiken Little, Alysa Edwards-Frick, and Breanna Hines each chipped in 6.
Tri-Valley plays for the Sectional Championship next Friday night at 7PM where they will play at Eastmoor Academy in Columbus.
