NEW CONCORD, Ohio — The John Glenn Little Muskies kept their MVL titles hopes alive on Tuesday night with a 61-44 win over Tri-Valley.

The Little Muskies jumped out to a 19-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back on their way to victory, handing the Scotties their second league-loss of the season, and moving back into a tie in the loss column for first place in the MVL.

After suffering a thirteen-point loss in their first match-up back in Dresden on January 20th, the Little Muskies knew they had to come out with a better defensive effort tonight.

“You know, we just tried to make some adjustments defensively since the first time we played them. I thought defensively we did a really good job until probably the fourth quarter, we let them get some easy ones. But I thought defensively for us we were much better tonight than we were the first time we played them,” John Glenn coach Greg Woodard said.

And while the Little Muskies were stout defensively, their offensive was in rhythm all night as well. John Glenn scored on their first nine possessions of the game to open up an early lead, and they had four players reach double-figures on the night.

Justin Heacock lead all scorers with 19 points for John Glenn. Casey Smith added 12, and Josh Raley and Shane Bonner each chipped in 10.

Jake Mcloughlin, the reigning WHIZ-TV high school player of the week, lead the Scotties with 15. Mcloughlin fouled out in the fourth quarter.

John Glenn has two MVL games remaining, while Tri-Valley has just one. If both win their remaining games, the two teams will share the MVL title. John Glenn travels to New Lexington on Friday while Tri-Valley hosts Philo.
