ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local funeral home donated a necessary item to help The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. provide a proper burial ceremony.
Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls donated a bugle that cost about $680.00. The V.F.W. Post 1058 performed 139 funeral ceremonies last year and according to Officer Glenn Moore the V.F.W. is thankful for the new bugle.
“The other bugle it was probably from the sixty’s, I guess,” Moore said. “We had it welded a couple of times, it had come apart and it was on its last leg basically. It had been around for a while, but we were trying to make it work and so we definitely needed a new bugle.”
Farus Funeral Home owner, Matt Farus said it was their honor to donate this new bugle and the V.F.W. provides to the community veterans and this is a way for the funeral home to support them in return.
“Well the guys in the [The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S.] are phenomenal and they do a great service for everybody in the community and we had seen that they had a need,” Farus said. “We thought this would be a great way for us to step up and help out [The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S.] who helps out so many families by providing them with a bugle.”
Glenn said their old bugle can still be fixed up and used, so the local V.F.W. will look for a place that can find good use out of the old bugle.
