ZANESVILLE, Ohio - The Zanesville Muskingum Health Department is looking to better their services by merging two locations.
Muskingum County Health Commissioner, Corey Hamilton met with the Muskingum County Commissioners to discuss merging of two locations.
“The Health Department is split over two buildings currently, the main one over on Seventh [street] and Shinnick [street] and the other one on Putnam Avenue,” said Hamilton. “We’ve been trying for a couple of years to get all relocated to one location.”
Hamilton said there are at least two options for merging the employees into one building. One option is building a new facility and another option is finding another larger location.
“So we’ll be looking to see if there are other buildings available in the community to see if we could re-locate the health department services to an alternate location,” said Hamilton. “We’re looking for between 15,000 and 20,000 square foot with adequate parking.”
Hamilton says this merge will benefit the community and the employees.
“Having the Health department in one location would be a benefit to the community because there wouldn’t be  confusion on where to go for what services,” said Hamilton. “It’s a great benefit for my staff because we could all be together and it builds in some sufficiencies that we can generate by cross training and being able to share resources more adequately. We also think that it would reduce the amount  of cost for our building and facility to be in one location.”
The Zanesville Muskingum Health Department and Muskingum County Commissioners will keep looking into merging the employees.
