Dog park open in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The first ever Zanesville dog park will be having its grand opening event this Sunday.

Winerak Market owner Mike Alfman, who also doubles as a volunteer for Friends of Zanesville Dog Park, has been dedicated to this project from the beginning.

“There’s been a group working on this with city council and were just so pleased the city stepped up and made some donations and gave the property for where the dog park is located at Riverside,” said Alfman.

The event will take place Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the dog park at Riverside. The group will be holding a contest for the name of the park where attendees can submit their suggestions. There will also be a costume contest for the canine friends with prizes for the winners.

“Were going to have four gift baskets to give away to individuals who bring their dogs down dressed for Halloween, and were going to have a doggy contest,” said Alfman. “So bring them down in costume and have some fun with that.”

By next spring the group hopes to add on a water fountain, benches and a concrete sidewalk to complete the park.
