LANCASTER – Coshocton Post 65 already made history by winning its first state legion game in 40 years, but the Cherokees were unable to ride that momentum versus Sidney on Friday, falling 5-2.

Coshocton was eliminated from the tournament with the defeat, having lost its first game of the double-elimination tournament to Circleville late Thursday night, 6-5.

The Cherokees grabbed a 2-1 lead in the third inning and held on until Sidney tied things up in the top of the sixth. The game remained tied until the top of the ninth, when Sidney plated three times.

Utica also bowed out of state legion action on Friday, falling to Pickerington in an elimination game, 9-3.
