Organizers Call ‘Rubber Ducks Derby’ a Success

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Oh - More than 700 rubber ducks raced down the Y-Bridge Canal all for a good cause.

Hundreds of area residents attended the 1st Annual Duck Derby Saturday. The fun began at 10 a.m with crafts, food vendors, a kids zone, and a petting zoo. Founder and Executive Director of Breaking Free, Linda Lake said all of the money raised from this event will benefit Breaking Free programs.

“We provide equine therapeutic to veterans free of charge so that program itself is totally supported. We have over 14 veterans we’re working with right now and we have their own horses, they each have their own horses so it takes a lot of public support to make it happen,” said Lake. ” I just want people to know that everybody can make a difference doing a little bit of something, even if it’s coming out to an event like this.”

Lake hopes to host this event again next year.
